Workshop on Frontiers in Nanophotonics and Plasmonics
November 10-14 2007 Guarujá, SP BrazilRecent developments in near-field optics nanoscale fabrication and the confinement and transport of light below the diffraction limit have resulted in a near-perfect storm of research and technological advancement in bugeoning field of nanophotonics and plasmonics. In particular recent developments in the physics of surface plasmon polaritons has opened the way to light localization, transport, reflection and switching of optical frequencies at subwavelength scales.
This workshop seeks to bring together leading researchers in nanophotonics and plasmonics from Brazil, the United States and Europe. Because subwavelength plasmonics/photonics is inherently multidisciplinary, we will provide a forum for the presentation of the latest, relevant advances in materials science, electrical engineering, near-field optics, biology, medicine, atomic and optical physics.
In addition we plan a set of tutorials on key topics for students and for more senior investigators seeking to initiate research projects in this interdisciplinary domain.
Deadline for Submission of Abstracts: 31 July 2007
