Nanophotonics - A Forward Look

nea-aforwardlook-frontpage-157x222In July 2012 leading researchers gathered at King's College, London (UK) to analyse and discuss  future research and exploitation directions of nanophotonics. The main conclusions and recommendations of this Workshop, hosted by the Nanophotonics Europe Association, have been summarised in the report  icon Nanophotonics - A forward look (2012)

Nanophotonics, where field enhancement effects result in new optical phenomena offering superior performance or completely new functionalities in photonic devices, has the potential to impact across a wide range of photonics products ranging from hith efficiency solar cells, to ultra-secure communications, to personalized health monitoring, etc. A number of representative example potential applications of nanophotonics are presented, illustrating the potential commercial and/or societal impact of these technologies.
